Classes

We have 3 levels of formal training classes - Foundation, Intermediate & Advanced.

Foundation class: duration 4 weeks, commencing at 10am after registration.

Intermediate class: duration 8 weeks, builds on skills learned in Foundation (classes run at 9am and 10am).

Advanced class: duration 8 weeks, and extends skills further (classes run at 9am and 10am).

Classes are run on Sunday mornings and are 45 minutes long. All classes follow a structured program, building on skills taught the previous week. We highly encourage attendance each week to help you develop your skills and progress to the next class. We train in ALL WEATHERS so don't put off attending if it is raining, the class will still go ahead.

On completion of the 3 levels of formal classes there are options to continue your training with the club in the following disciplines: Obedience Trial class, Rally Trialling class and Social class.

Location: Simpsons Park, Cochrane St, Mitcham, 3132
Times: classes run between 9am - 11am every Sunday

REGISTRATION

When you register at our club you will need to bring proof of full vaccination and payment of your membership fee. You will be given a commencement date when you register. You may be able to commence classes on the date of registration. If this is not possible, you will be given the next available date that your level of class commences. Classes are popular, so your patience and understanding of this process is appreciated.

Commencement of Foundation class is typically on the first Sunday of the month. Check the home page or Facebook for any changes.

Things to bring with you to classes:

  • Our club preference is that you use a flat / fixed collar or martingale collar on your dog. Harnesses are not recommended as these promote pulling from our dogs.
  • A lead of between 1.2m - 1.5m long is ideal. No retractable leads.
  • Tasty food treats in a pouch, saves messy food in pockets or plastic bags.
  • Your dog's favourite toy / ball / rope.
  • Wear appropriate clothing and footwear (no thongs / Crocs / etc).
  • Mat for mat work.
  • Dog poo bags.

A note on tasty food treats: small pieces of chicken, Prime 100 or other soft cooked meat. They need to be small enough for your dog to swallow fast and interesting enough that the dog will come for them when other dogs are around. Hard treats take too long for your dog to chew and their focus is lost.
